It’s easy to get so caught up in the grind that you forget why you started in the first place. One meeting after another, chasing metrics, hitting deadlines — and somewhere in there, the spark that lit you up at the start quietly fades.
I had one of those wake-up calls not long ago. I was knee-deep in a project that was hitting all the numbers but felt strangely empty. On paper, it was a win. In reality, it was pulling me further from the life and work I actually cared about.
Then came a simple question from a friend: “Would you still do this if no one was watching?” The answer was instant — and it was no.
Here’s what I’ve learned since: when you’re clear on your “why” — when it excites you, pulls you forward, and feels unshakably right — the “how” always shows up. You don’t need a perfect plan from the start. You don’t need to answer every logistical question right now. People waste months obsessing over how are we going to do this?, how will we find that?, how will it all work? That’s all bullshit. If your “why” is solid, the path appears as you move.
Reconnecting with what truly matters isn’t about abandoning your ambitions. It’s about making sure they’re growing in the right direction — and trusting that the steps will reveal themselves when you take the first one.
The Takeaway
If your “why” is strong, the “how” will always come. Stop stalling on logistics and start moving toward what matters.
Keep Moving Forward!
