Your body will give you signals. The question is whether you listen before or after they become impossible to ignore.
I didn’t listen for a long time. I had a very sophisticated system for overriding the signals. Too busy. Too much at stake. I’ll deal with it when things slow down. The signals got louder. I got better at overriding them. That’s not a story with a good ending.
The body communicates in a very clear sequence. First it whispers. Then it speaks. Then it shouts. If you don’t hear the shout, it takes action on your behalf.
Most of us are somewhere in the whisper-to-speaking range and calling it fine.
Fatigue that doesn’t resolve after a good night’s sleep. A tension that’s been in the same spot for weeks. A pattern of poor sleep that you’ve accepted as normal. Appetite that’s shifted and you’re not sure why. These are not minor inconveniences. They are communication.
This isn’t about becoming obsessive about health signals. It’s about having enough of a relationship with your own body that you notice when something is off — and you respond before the response is forced on you.
I learned to check in. Not elaborate — a few honest questions every morning. What actually needs attention today? Not what do I want to push through. What actually needs attention.
Listen before it gets loud. It’s cheaper in every possible way.
The Takeaway
Your body signals before it breaks down — learn to hear the whisper before it becomes a shout you can’t ignore.
Keep Moving Forward!
